I'd like to introduce you to the Miki books.
These stories came about because of the sad lack of books for African children.
While the Miki books focus on South African black children living in Cape Town, there is a whole country beyond this that
desperately needs books for African children - specifically in English. Not to mention an entire continent where
reading material for African children is scarce.
Why English, you ask? English is the main language of tertiary education in South Africa.
It is also still the world's key language in business, entertainment, science, the maritime industry and the airspace industry.
Without a sound knowledge of English, many young people stand less opportunity of finding good jobs and decent salaries -
or of making their way successfully in other countries.
So my contribution is the Miki series which introduces 11-year old Miki and his friend Louie.
The books are specifically written with a humorous slant - reading can be FUN! And what do young African kids love most of
all - well, soccer of course, but in fact they love all sports. I hoped the elements of humor, sport and family would prove a
great formula for entertaining young minds.
In the Miki books much goes wrong for Miki - but it's Miki's own resourcefulness that saves the day. And there are some
valuable life lessons regarding honesty, loyalty, integrity, responsibility and family fun. Geared for children aged 9 - 14
depending on reading ability, the Miki books can be enjoyed by readers of all ages (from 9 - 90!) and are equally suitable
for readers of all backgrounds worldwide.
The Miki books are available in ebook format on all major sites such as Amazon US, Amazon UK, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Apple and Flipkart.
